Echocardiographic screening for rheumatic heart disease in Nepal

(Inselspital, Bern University Hospital ) An international research team led by Thomas Pilgrim of the Department of Cardiology at Inselspital has published a much-noticed study on early detection of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in «JAMA cardiology . The study demonstrates that a significant reduction of RHD can be achieved in schools with systematic echocardiographic screening.
